Car Modifying Tips

Modifying your car to create a custom vehicle is a great way to stand out from the crowd. Show your personality and get noticed when driving down the road or sitting in a parking lot. You can modify your car several ways, inside and out. You can even modify the engine and improve the performance of your car.

*Interior

    Your car's interior is where you spend most of your time, so it should be nice, comfortable and inviting. Starting with comfort, you can upgrade your seating material from cloth or vinyl to nice leather seats. Several aftermarket companies can ship pre-cut leather seat covers (actual seat material, not just cheap covers) to you or your upholstery shop. An upholstery shop can then cut away the old material and replace it with the new leather.

    Interior accessories are a great way to add to the comfort and style of your car. Adding a new CD player, screen, amplifier, speakers or GPS unit can add value and use to your car. Adding these accessories not only makes your car more enjoyable, but increases the resale value if you decide to sell it.

 *Exterior

        The exterior of your car is what everyone sees first and leaves the first impression. The most obvious modification you can make is to have a custom paint job put on your car. If a custom paint job is out of your price range, you can put vinyl graphics in different shapes or with images on your car. These graphics can be removed and changed whenever you come up with a new idea. They also cost thousands of dollars less than a custom paint job.

        Another exterior modifying tip is to replace the factory wheels and tires with bigger rims and tires. Adding new rims to your vehicle can dramatically change the overall look of the car. Aftermarket rims are available in thousands of designs and finishes.

* Performance

        Modifying a car wouldn't be complete without adding power. A good place to start on almost any vehicle is the air intake. Aftermarket air intake kits are available for almost all models of vehicles, including trucks. These kits can add horsepower and provide cooler air to your vehicles engine, increasing the life and performance.

        An aftermarket exhaust is a popular modification because it not only increases horsepower, but it adds a unique sound to your car. Exhaust systems can be put on by any mechanic shop with welding capabilities. Make sure the exhaust isn't too loud or you can be ticketed for it by police.
